Home Air Quality is very critical for the health of the whole household.

British Website DailyMail.Co.UK has reported that air toxins inside the home affects the health and well-being of the whole family to the point that it can lead to serious, irreversible, and fatal illnesses if left unchecked.

“Toxic Home Syndrome, (is when) a person’s health deteriorates as a result of the air circulating in their home. The condition affects more than 15.3 million homes across the UK, experts believe. Professor Peter Howarth, who specializes in allergy and respiratory medicine at Southampton University, called for increased awareness of what is being termed ‘Toxic Home Syndrome’. ‘Toxic Home Syndrome occurs when individuals and families are exposed to a potent mix of airborne pollutants within the home arising from poor ventilation, causing respiratory and skin diseases to occur more frequently,’ he said. A pan-European study, carried out by the National Institute for Health and Welfare, revealed the impact indoor allergens has on disease and life expectancy.”

Mold Inhalation May Cause Hallucinations Too?

These home air pollutants include molds. And in an article posted by website Mysterious Universe.Org, it seems like a toxic home, ca lead to a haunted home too.

“A research team hopes to prove that the mold in old houses may be filling the air with toxic and possibly hallucinogenic spores which could be responsible for some ghost sightings and the fear and paranoia felt by visitors in alleged haunted houses. The researchers from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York, are being led by Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Shane Rogers. As an environmental engineer, Rogers knows all about the toxic molds that invade old houses and are as difficult to remove as … well, as ghosts. He also knows that some common molds such as rye ergot fungus have been known to cause depression, anxiety and even psychosis in people who breathe them. Not to mention hallucinations.”

A good way to detoxify your home from these substances is to have indoor house plants around your home.

Website House Spot has featured seven plants that could help clean the air in your home.” Practically anything made from synthetic materials or chemicals is a potential source of indoor air pollution. Carpets, upholstery, paint, varnish, cleaning products, electronic equipment and many ordinary household items release traces of toxins. If the air is not sufficiently filtered, these can build up to hazardous levels. Fortunately, a number of indoor plants have the natural ability to detoxify air in the home.”
