Fire Hydrants are extremely important especially during emergencies. It is very important to keep them unobstructed because fire accidents can happen anytime.

NJ.Com shared in its website what could happen in the event that a fire emergency occurs and a car is parked in front of a fire hydrant. Fire Sprinkler           

“When asked about running the hose over or under the car, Palumbo said that the vehicle’s exhaust system underneath could have compromised the line and a 90-degree angle formed by running the hose over the roof would have restricted water flow. ‘This person made the conscious decision to park in front of the fire hydrant. Windows can be replaced; people cannot,’ the chief said.”

Other Measures

If a fire hydrant is unavailable, fire fighters resort to other emergency measures to put out the fire. Firefighters

“Unfortunately for this semi-truck driver, having a bad day was simply unavoidable when he crashed his rig and it was set ablaze, but the outcome is truly spectacular to watch. When fire extinguishing methods were out of reach, the crew had to bring in the big guns in the form of an airplane to drop retardant all over the flames.”

The website Columbus Dispatch meantime featured a fire hydrant with a double purpose.

“Dogs visiting Ohio State’s veterinary medicine college have a new target when they go pee: a fire hydrant painted with the Michigan colors. The maize-and-blue hydrant is part of a dog relief patio near the school’s new intensive care unit. It is a small part of a $30 million renovation, according to Rustin Moore, the Associate Executive Dean in the College of Veterinary Medicine.”
