Over time, it is not uncommon for mold to begin growing within the internal components of an HVAC system. While this is not inherently harmful, it can become a problem if you start to smell the mildew or mold; this means that the mold spores are actually making their way into the air, which can be hazardous to your health. Specifically, mold is known to be damaging to the human respiratory system and can even further aggravate asthma for those who have it.”

Hawaii Army Weekly for its part emphasized that improper use of the HVAC System can further encourage mold growth. ‘Mold growth only requires three things to prosper: 1- Relative humidity greater than 60 percent, such as from moisture from water spills, leaky roofs and condensation; 2- Food, such as dirty carpeting, dust, etc.; 3- Water. 1. Hey !

One of my neighbours found some mold growing in the basement of their home. From what I heard, there was a small leak in their house a while back that they stopped but didn't bother to have completely cleaned up. It took the company they contacted a while to take care of all the mold that had grown since then.

I can smell the mold in our basement too but I don't know what to do for it. I'm scared that it is going to make us sick. Thanks for all of your help.

Thanks for sharing your views on fixing mold.

    Cheers!
