Molds can be unassuming at times, and if one does not pay too much attention on the food that he or she is eating, mold poisoning can occur especially on food that has long been stored.

Family Health Freedom Network has enumerated various signs and symptoms of mold poisoning.

“When mold is inhaled into the lungs, it leaves its mark on your body in a variety of ways. Mycotoxins are produced by mold, and many of them can be measured in your urine, saliva, or stool. Mold exposure can cause health problems that baffle doctors and experts, as they seem to have little in common. On the mild end, you may see inflammation and an uptick in allergies. On the more serious end of the scale, you may experience asthma, oxidative stress, and immune problems. There are several symptoms you can look for as you try to figure out whether or not you’ve been exposed to toxic mold.”

How to remove molds in the bathroom

Molds in the bathroom are dangerous to the health especially since bathrooms are small enclosed space making it very likely for you to touch or inhale molds easily.

The website Top Rated Viral shared a slide show that gave suggestions on how to remove molds that have grown in the bathroom area.

“To easily get rid of mold, start by picking up some cotton coils from the local drugstore. Next, you want to let them soak in a bowl of bleach until they’re thoroughly saturated. Now, place them tightly along the offending area and leave them there overnight. In the morning, remove them and use an old toothbrush to scrub that mold right off.”

How to avoid molds after a flooding

Flooding brings about more damage than what a normal homeowner could expect. Experts warn molds can set in as early as a couple of days after a flooding took place.

This situation can be very dangerous as molds do not only affect the health of residents, it also damages the whole home. Mold Removal

Oklahoma News Agency News on Six reported about the concern as well s warnings made by experts on flood and molds.” There’s a new threat growing in several areas due to all of our flooding. Mold is a concern for many flood victims because it only gets worse with time, and can become a problem within two days of flooding. The Red Cross and the extension service are warning people to clean up their homes as soon as possible, especially if it gets into furniture and the walls.”

The National Organization of Remediators and Mold Inspectors issued the same warnings, saying that it is not only flooding that can cause mold growth during the rainy season. Black Molds

“Disaster area residents must be proactive, act quickly, and use proper personal protection equipment when implementing the following ten steps: (1) Remove any standing water using a pump or a wet vac. If the water damage is from a broken pipe, be sure to turn off the water supply. (2) Remove wet carpets, rugs, draperies and personal belongings. Clear mud and debris from floors and foundation walls to allow the subflooring and foundation to dry. (3) Remove and discard water-saturated sheetrock and insulation 18 inches above the highest watermark to increase structural drying. Remove water-damaged flexible ductwork and water-damaged insulation around metal ductwork.”

Fireplaces really provide that warm and cozy feeling.

But safety should remain to be a top priority while using the fireplace.

Heat and Glo for instance shared some tips on how to safely enjoy your home’s fireplace.

“It’s easy to love fireplaces. They are the centerpieces of ambiance in our homes, and they warm our toes and our hearts too. But because they are self-contained and so easy to use, it’s possible to forget they produce fire and can get very hot – so an occasional safety reminder is important, especially when children either live in or visit your home.”

In its website, the American Academy of Pediatrics meantime came out with specific safety precautions for children and glass-front fireplaces. Fire Sprinkler 

“Glass fronted gas fireplaces are associated with a significant number of preventable burn injuries in toddlers each year. These burn injuries require painful wound care and rehabilitation. The end result can be scarring that interferes with normal function as well as psychological after-effects.”

While the holiday season should be all about merry making and having fun, taking safety precautions should never take a back seat. This is especially true as fire incidents escalate during the Christmas season in view of holiday decorations, and some Christmas related activities.

The Christmas Tree Association for instance issued warnings and safety reminders to the public on holiday fires. Fire Sprinkler   

“Don’t let Christmas ever heat up too much — with fire that is. Did you know that Christmas trees alone result in 13 million dollars, annually, in property damage? More importantly, these fires present real risk towards family and friends. When showcasing a live tree in your home, the combination of tree dryness, electrical malfunction with lights and poorly located heating sources can make for a deadly combination. But if your holiday is just not complete without a live tree, follow these safety precautions to keep threats at bay.”

In Canada, officials also remind their constituents to remain alert and stay safe during the yuletide festivities to avoid untoward incidents. Firefighters    

There are usually more cooks in the kitchen during Christmas and while that can be a good thing, preparing food is the largest cause of fires in Saskatoon year-round. Another safety tip during the holiday season is space heaters. The Saskatoon Fire Department recommends keeping them one meter away from anything flammable.”
