Fireplaces really provide that warm and cozy feeling.

But safety should remain to be a top priority while using the fireplace.

Heat and Glo for instance shared some tips on how to safely enjoy your home’s fireplace.

“It’s easy to love fireplaces. They are the centerpieces of ambiance in our homes, and they warm our toes and our hearts too. But because they are self-contained and so easy to use, it’s possible to forget they produce fire and can get very hot – so an occasional safety reminder is important, especially when children either live in or visit your home.”

Extra caution for homes with children

In its website, the American Academy of Pediatrics meantime came out with specific safety precautions for children and glass-front fireplaces. Fire Sprinkler 

“Glass fronted gas fireplaces are associated with a significant number of preventable burn injuries in toddlers each year. These burn injuries require painful wound care and rehabilitation. The end result can be scarring that interferes with normal function as well as psychological after-effects.”

Firefighters in Kansas continue to remind their constituents to take safety precautions to prevent fires as well as injuries. “A fire should never go unattended and when it’s out, make sure you dispose of the ashes safely by placing them in a safe container with a lid and then leave them outside to cool for several days. Never start a fire using gasoline or any liquid accelerant, Lt. Evans said, and always make sure the fire is completely out before leaving or going to bed.”
