Molds are very dangerous to the health, especially on children. But how will a parent know if his or her child has been or is being exposed to it?

Livestrong.com featured a post tackling the symptoms of black mold exposure on children.

“Black mold is a toxic fungus that grows in buildings and homes that have water problems, such as damage from flooding or an unknown leak. Black mold produces spores to reproduce, and these spores can cause health problems in people ranging from hay fever-like respiratory problems to skin rashes. The symptoms of black mold exposure are largely the same in children as in adults, although children can be at risk for more severe complications.”

Some molds even get too close

Sometimes, molds grow even on places or things that go in direct contact with children. Like Cloth Diapers.

Cottonbabies.com shared in its webpage ways to prevent and remove mold from cloth diapers. “There it is, here to rear its ugly head. And unfortunately, it made home in your cloth diapers. If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, I’m referring to mold and mildew. As much as you’d like to protect your precious stash, cloth diapers are susceptible to fungi. Thankfully, you can prevent mold and mildew from growing in your diapers, but, if they’ve already turned into a science experiment, you can combat it!”

This story featured by British website Daily Mail will however make you cringe, if not get downright alarmed over how a Florida couple allowed their two children to be exposed in a very filthy house whose floor is covered in molds. “In the bathroom, the shower contained a kiddie pool reportedly filled with stagnant water covered in a brown film, while mold coated the floor. In the kitchen, the report said, there were dirty dishes and pans piled high, with decaying food inside.”

  1. When I first started reading this, I had no idea that mold could grow on things like cloth diapers. That is not something that I would want and child to have to deal with, especially if it was black mold. This post is great for letting people know just how important it is to get any type of mold removed. I knew that black mold was bad, but I didn't know that it caused 'hay fever-like respiratory problems to skin rashes' and that it can cause even more severe complications for kids.
